در دنیایی که در هر هفت روزش، صدها نوع ویروس جدید متولد می شوند، از هر 12 نامه الکترونیکی، یک نامه اش ویروسی است و هر سیستم محافظت نشده ای در کمتر از 16 دقیقه بعد از اتصال به اینترنت مورد حمله و آسیب قرار می گیرد، داشتن یک برنامه ضد ویروس از نان شب هم واجب تر است!
اما ضد ویروسی که روزآمد (up to date) باشد. چرا که حتی اگر بهترین ضد ویروس ها را داشته باشید و هر روز هم سیستم تان را برای یافتن ویروس های لعنتی! جستجو کنید، بدون داشتن اطلاعات ویروس های جدید، باز هم در معرض خطر آلوده شدن قرار دارید. ویروس های جدیدی که هر روز، هوشمندتر می شوند. زمانی ویروس ها را تنها برای خرابکاری و از بین بردن اطلاعات یک سیستم می ساختند اما ویروس های امروزی سیستم شما را به یک ماشین تکثیر ویروس تبدیل می کنند تا در خدمت اهداف ویروس قرار بگیرد!
بروزرسانی فایل های حاوی اطلاعات ویروس ها را می توان با مراجعه به سایت سازنده و دانلود و نصب آنها (به صورت دستی) انجام داد اما ضد ویروس های مطرحی مثل McAfee و Norton از برنامه هایی نظیر Instant updater و Live Update استفاده می کنند که با ارتباط با سایت، فهرست ویروس های جدید را دریافت و به طور خودکار بر روی سیستم شما نصب می کند. این روشی است که اکثر نرم افزارها، برای اطلاع از آمدن نسخه های جدیدتر نرم افزار (Check update) از آن استفاده می کنند.
در مواقع عادی این فایلها، به صورت هفتگی روزآمد می شوند اما شما می توانید با فعال کردن برنامه بروزرسان ضد ویروس، در زمان اتصال به اینترنت و به طور دائم، از روزآمد بودن فهرست ویروس های قابل شناسایی مطمئن باشید.
همچنین بهتر است با اجازه به ضد ویروس جهت مراقبت دائمی از سیستم، به محض مشاهده ویروس آن را از ریشه بسوزانید! البته ضد ویروس ها در بسیاری از موارد تنها می توانند ویروس را تشخیص دهند و قادر به پاک سازی فایل های آلوده نیستند که در این موارد باید فایل را از روی سیستم حذف کنید! پس بهتر است نگذارید کار به اینجا بکشد و از همان اول منشاء ویروس را نابود کنید.
اگر چه با این کارها، کمی از کارایی سیستم را از دست می دهید، اما دیگر می توانید با خیالی راحت تر در فضای سایبر گشت و گذار کنید. اما هنوز هم در «امنیت» نیستید!
